RCHS Seeks Funding for Critical Veterinary Equipment

Routt County Humane Society Urgently Appeals to Community for Veterinary Equipment Funding

The Routt County Humane Society (RCHS), a steadfast advocate for animal welfare, is issuing an urgent plea to the community for assistance in acquiring essential veterinary equipment. This equipment is crucial to enhancing the quality of care provided to animals in need, both within the shelter and through the organization’s affordable community wellness clinic.

In a bid to uphold its unwavering commitment to animal well-being in Routt County, RCHS is seeking to expand its equipment inventory. The specific veterinary equipment urgently required includes:

  • Laboratory Equipment (Chemistry Analyzer, Procyte One Hematology Analyzer, Vet Lab Station): Essential for conducting in-house tests and screenings to facilitate proper diagnosis.
  • Ultrasound Machine: Necessary for accurate and timely diagnostics, currently outsourced, impacting cost, scheduling efficiency, and timely diagnosis.

The importance of this equipment was exemplified in the case of Nalu, a two-year-old male cat surrendered to RCHS with a history of recent urinary obstruction. Despite being hospitalized at two different clinics with little success, the extensive cost of care forced the owner to make the painful decision of relinquishing his care to RCHS. With the veterinary team’s tireless efforts and the required equipment, Nalu’s treatment plan, including bloodwork and ultrasounds, could be conducted onsite, significantly reducing costs and expediting medical care.

RCHS is urgently appealing to the community to help raise the necessary $60,000 to acquire this vital equipment. Contributions can be made through the organization’s website, www.routthumane.org, or by mailing a check to RCHS, PO Box 772080, Steamboat Springs, CO, 80477. Regardless of size, every donation will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and happiness of countless needy animals.

RCHS extends heartfelt gratitude to the community for their ongoing dedication to animal welfare, emphasizing that together, they can create a brighter and healthier future for the animals of Routt County.
