Animals
All of our animals are microchipped, vaccinated and spayed/neutered (unless medically exempt) before going home. For additional details regarding what your adoption fee includes visit the shelter during open hours or call 970-879-7247. To ensure the safety and well-being of our animals, all adoptions must be finalized by 4:30 PM each day. This allows our team ample time to ensure every pet is properly settled in for the night.
Between 600-700 animals come to Routt County Humane Society every year. Each has a different story to tell. No matter how they got here, where they came from or what their needs are, we provide them with veterinary care, food, socialization, enrichment and compassion. The total cost of care can strain our resources and adoption fees help offset these costs.
Our Adoption Process
Most of our available animals are located at the shelter and can be visited during our open hours. No appointment is needed for visiting.
Dogs receive their dinner from 4 pm – 4:30 pm so will not be open for visitation during that time.

Satisfaction Guaranteed!
Our adoptions are Satisfaction Guaranteed! While there is a person for every animal, we know that not every animal is for every person. If you adopt an animal from RCHS and discover that you are not compatible due to behavior concerns or medical issues, you may return your pet within 60 days and your adoption fee will be refunded.
Long-Term Resident Discounts
We offer adoption discounts for all of our long-term canine residents. Receive 25% off adoption fees on dogs that have been available for adoption with us for over a month and 50% off adoption fees for dogs that have been available for adoption with us for 60 days or more.
